Boxing has long been celebrated for its discipline, resilience, and the extraordinary achievements of its athletes. Yet alongside its greatness lies an undeniable reality: the long term health risks associated with repetitive head impacts. For decades, these risks have been accepted as part of the sport. Today, that narrative is beginning to change.
At Sportsolute, we believe innovation has the power to reshape the future of boxing, making it safer without compromising performance.
From Awareness to Action
The conversation around athlete safety, particularly brain health, has gained significant momentum in recent years. High profile cases have highlighted the lasting impact that repeated blows to the head can have over time. These insights have created urgency across the sports world to find smarter, data driven solutions.
Rather than accepting risk as inevitable, we see an opportunity to better understand impact, monitor it in real time, and use that knowledge to protect athletes both now and in the future.
Introducing the ACT Head Impact Tracker
We are proud to announce the launch of a validation pilot in collaboration with Knockout Boxing Club. This initiative brings together elite athletes, including members of the Dutch national boxing team, to test the ACT Head Impact Tracker developed by Northern Sports Insight and Intelligence.
This advanced technology is designed to monitor head impacts in real time, providing valuable data that was previously unavailable in training environments. By integrating this system into high performance boxing sessions, we aim to:
• Gain deeper insight into the frequency and intensity of head impacts
• Support coaches and trainers with objective data
• Enable smarter training decisions
• Reduce long term neurological risks
Bridging Performance and Protection
One of the biggest challenges in combat sports is balancing peak performance with athlete safety. Athletes push their limits every day, striving for excellence. Our mission is to ensure they can do so without compromising their long term health.
By leveraging real time monitoring, we are taking a crucial step toward a future where safety and performance go hand in hand. This is not about limiting the sport, it is about evolving it.
Collaboration at the Core
This pilot would not be possible without strong partnerships. We extend our sincere thanks to Harm Blijd of Knockout Boxing Club for his vision, commitment, and support in making this initiative a reality.
We are also incredibly grateful to the athletes leading the way in this project
Liz Thijssen, Zoë Vogels, Tara Vogels, and Mahmoud Al Chabtun. Their willingness to embrace innovation and contribute to the future of the sport is truly inspiring.
Shaping the Future of Boxing
This pilot marks an important milestone, not just for Sportsolute, but for boxing as a whole. It represents a shift toward a more responsible, data driven approach to athlete health.
Our ambition is clear to help build a future where athletes can perform at the highest level while being better protected against long term risks.
Because the true success of sport is not just measured in victories, but in the well being of the athletes who make it possible.
